Synopsis
A side story to the events in the Gundam Wing
Television Series (also known as "Gundam Wing: G-Unit") that begins at about the
same time that Lady Une is acting as a diplomat to the space colonies and
concludes with the Eve War, this three-volume comic series introduces new
characters and mecha not shared with the Gundam Wing universe. The story takes
place on a mining asteroid, resource satellite MO-V, where a revolutionary
Gundam project is underway. Unlike previous Mobile Suits, the G-Unit is an
experimental Gundam designed to operate in multiple environments, like space and
water. Though the residents initially welcome OZ's presence, once the
inhabitants recognize OZ's true itinerary, brothers Odin and Odel Bernett join
forces with Roche Natanno of the Stardust Knights to protect the asteroid colony
MO-V from OZ, unaware that both sides are being manipulated by the creator of
the G-Units for his own purposes. The comic was released in Japan in 1997-1998,
along with a new line of model kits of the mobile suits, and released in English
in 2002-2003.
Characters
Aretha Walker
 |
Officer aboard Grand Shario, Aretha delivered the
Griepe to Odin, defecting to MO-V shortly thereafter. (Also Arelha in some
sources.) |
Broom Brooks
 |
Tall and imposing member of the Stardust Knights, totally loyal to
Roche's knightly approach. His refusal to accept Farkill's tactics results
in his death. |
Captain Cage
 |
A Barge officer who ordered Sernan on a top secret reconnaissance
mission. After the war, he joined the Preventers.
 |
Dick Hidasaki
 |
Chief
mechanic and engineer on MO-V and expert at repairing the Gundams, Dick can
usually be found in the hangar, wearing his baseball cap and working on the
G-Units with Lucille Aisley. |
Doctor Berg
 |
The
inventor of the G-Units, Dr. Berg is a brilliant scientist. He seems more
interested in protecting his work than the people of MO-V. Originally one of Duke Dermail's top agents, Dr.
Berg was an accomplished mobile suit designer who was placed at the asteroid
colony MO-V. However, the colony's chairman Roga Herman chose to develop
space travel instead of mobile suits. Enraged, Berg sabotaged the shuttle,
killing Mark Barnett and his wife and convincing Herman to allow him to
build his mobile suits. The fruits of his labors were the G-Units, mobile
suits with the ability to rapidly change their equipment and the powerful
but dangerous PX System.
 |
| Dornille |
A White Fang officer, Dornille was sent to MO-V in an attempt to
capture the G-Units for White Fang. |
Kratz Silvy
 |
One of the Stardust Knights and a leader of OZ Prize, Kratz
betrayed Roche before an extended MS battle with Odel using the PX System
destroyed both him and his Gundam. |
Lon Sernan
 |
An OZ Special Lieutenant and mechanic who was present at Lake Victoria base
when it was attacked by the Shenlong Gundam and was later assigned to Barge, Sernan was under Lady Une's orders when he received word
that the colony MO-V was under Prize jurisdiction. Lieutenant Nichol, hiding
this from Une, ordered Sernan to investigate MO-V and find out what was so
important about it. As he neared the colony, he was attacked by Broom
Brooks, but was fortunately saved by the Bernett brothers. After explaining
his situation, Sernan joined MO-V's staff as a mobile suit mechanic. Sernan
joined Preventers after
the conflict. (Name translated as Lowe in some
sources.)
 |
|
Lucille Aisley
 |
Lucille is
a mechanic and the lead programmer at MO-V; her computer skills are
invaluable in the development of the new G-Units. She's also Odin's
girlfriend, although it's hard to tell sometimes, as they are always
bickering.
 |
Luna Armonia
 |
A war orphan, younger sister to Soris, and mobile suit pilot,
eventually serving with her sister under Valder Farkill. |
Mark Bernett
 |
Odin and Odell's late father. He developed a new type of engine
that would go on to be used in the Gundam Griepe. He and his wife were
killed in a shuttle explosion that was thought to be an accident, but had
actually been planned by Doctor Berg. (Name translated as Barnett in some
sources.) |
|
Odel Bernett
 |
The older
of the Bernett brothers, Odel is the top MS pilot at MO-V. He is distrustful
of the OZ delegates who come to his home.
Odel had to help raise his younger brother after the loss of their parents.
With Berg's help, he adopted the identity of Silver Crown and secretly aided
MO-V from within OZ. Unfortunately, Prize's new leader Valder Farkill
realized what was happening and attacked Odel as he attempted to send the
Gundam Griepe to Odin. After getting away from OZ, Odell returned to MO-V.
He participated in the final battle, helping to defeat Kratz and personally
finishing Berg. (Name translated as Odell or Barnett in some sources.) |
|
Odin Bernett
 |
The
younger Bernett brother and main character of the series, Odin is frustrated
at living in the shadow of his brother. Impulsive and brash, Odin hasn't
been able to master the self-control needed to take full advantage of the
new G-Unit and its PX system. At first
Odin has difficulty using the PX System, but following Odel's apparent death
he begins training, and uses it to drive back Roche Natono when he appears
with the new Gundam Aesculapius. Later on, Odin receives the Gundam Griepe
and learns of his brother's true fate, using the Griepe to drive Farkill
off. When Doctor Berg's doomsday plan sends Grand Shario on a rampage to
destroy the colonies and Earth, Odin is the one to pilot the combined G-Unit
and destroy the battleship, bringing an end to the conflict for good. (Name
translated as Adin in many sources.) |
|
Roche Nattono
 |
Former
leader of OZ Prize's Stardust Knights, Roche was rescued by MO-V after his
own people betrayed him. Now he fights alongside his former enemies. His
assistant, Aretha, left OZ to join him.
(Name translated as Rosshe in some sources.)
 |
|
Roga Herman
 |
The
elected official of MO-V, Roga is a humble leader who relies stongly on the
advice of his communications officer, Tricia Farrell.
 |
Soris Armonia
 |
War orphan, older sister of Luna, and Valder's bodyguard. Dedicated
mobile suit pilot.
 |
Tricia Farrell
 |
Communications officer for MO-V. Her chief duties are operating the
colony's communications and tracking equipment. She is Odel's fiancée.
 |
Valder Farkill
 |
A member of the Specials and a member of Zechs
Merquise's unit. During the rebellion against the Alliance, he scored more
kills than the rest of his team combined, earning him the nickname "Dark
General of Destruction." He believed that the only person worthy of his
skill was Treize Khushrenada, whom he hoped to defeat in combat before
taking over leadership of OZ. During the final battle at MO-V, Valder was
stunned by the news of Treize's death and was easily killed by Odin Barnett.

Last Outpost (G-Unit)
Affiliation:
MO-V
Pilot(s):
None (Mobile Doll) |
A defense mobile doll created by MO-V's Dick
Higasaki using a copy of the Mobile Doll System stolen by Odell Bernett.
Built from leftover Leo parts and armed with a pair of beam cannons, the
D-Unit was simple and low-cost, allowing MO-V to build several units
quickly.

OZ-10VMSX
Last Outpost (G-Unit)
Affiliation:
OZ
Pilot(s):
Roche Nattono,
Odel Bernett (Silver Crown) |
Built from the remains of the destroyed Geminass
02, the Asklepios is a transformable close combat Gundam employed by OZ
Prize. In its normal mode, it's a high-speed attacker armed only with beam
swords, but it can transform into a close combat machine, the forearms
replaced by giant claws mounting rapid-fire beam guns. Originally given to
Roche Nattono, it was reassigned to the mysterious Silver Crown, a man
capable of using the PX System. After Silver's deception is revealed,
Asklepios is repaired by MO-V with Geminass 02's head and given its weapons
to strengthen its combat ability. (As a note, the Asklepios' close combat
mode is modeled after the MSM-07 Z'Gok, a mobile suit from the original 1979
Gundam series.)

Classification: Transformable Mobile Suit
Material: Gundanium Alloy
Dimensions: Overall height: 18.2 meters, Dry weight: 12.8 tons
Armament: Beam Sword (x2), Python Claw (x2), Rapid Shot (x4), Micro Missiles
(x30), G-UNIT Shield, Active Jammer, PX System |

Last Outpost (G-Unit)
Affiliation:
MO-V
Pilot(s):
Odin Bernett |
The first of MO-V's G-Units, the Geminass is a
general purpose MS intended to show off the basic traits of the G-Unit
series. In its basic configuration, it is a capable ground combat mobile
suit armed with beam swords and an accelerate rifle, which can fire regular
shots or charge up a "Hyper Shot" thanks to the particle accelerator lining
its barrel. Though many environmental adaptation modules were planned, the
only one produced in time was the B-Unit, which gave the Geminass space
mobility thrusters on its shoulders, legs, and backpack. Geminass 01 was
painted white and blue with red details and piloted by MO-V's Odin Bernett,
who declared his machine a Gundam after hearing that the five rebels on
Earth were fighting for the sake of their home colonies.

Classification: Multi-Mode Mobile Suit
Material: Gundanium Alloy
Dimensions: Overall height: 17.3 meters, Dry weight: 7.9 tons
Armament: Beam Sword (x2), G-UNIT Shield, PX System, Accelerate Rifle
(optional) |

painted navy blue and black with orange details and piloted by Odell Bernett,
MO-V's ace pilot, who apparently sacrificed his life to save his brother
from the Stardust Knights. The remains of his machine would be collected by
OZ and remodeled into the Gundam Asklepios.

Last Outpost (G-Unit)
Affiliation:
MO-V
Pilot(s):
Odin Bernett |
Dr. Berg's ultimate G-Unit, the Griepe was
developed in secret while on Grandshario and secretly sent to Odin Bernett
for the purposes of testing it against OZ Prize and the Hydra Gundam. Like
the L.O. Booster, the Griepe can transform into a high-speed flight mode,
bolstered by a space propulsion engine developed by Mark Bernett, the late
father of the G-Units' pilots. In MS Battle Mode, the Griepe's only weapon
is a long beam lancer, while its Mobile Armor Mode mounts a powerful buster
mega particle cannon under its nose. The Griepe can also transform into
Assault Mode, halfway between MS and MA, to make use of the cannon without
fully transforming.

Classification: Multi-Mode Mobile Suit
Material: Gundanium Alloy
Dimensions: Overall height: 25.2 meters, Dry weight: 18.2 tons
Armament: Buster Mega Particle Cannon (x1), Beam Lancer (x1), Reflect Shield (x2), PX
system, Hyper Mega Particle Launcher (optional) |

The Gundam L.O. Booster
is an upgraded version of the Gundam Geminass 01. Based on plans left behind
by the traitorous Dr. Berg, the L.O. Booster upgrades the Gundam Geminass to
a high speed transformable unit. Aside from the increased mobility, the L.O.
Booster features a powerful thrust beam cannon and reactive shield.

Classification: Multi-Mode Mobile Suit
Material: Gundanium Alloy
Dimensions: Overall height: 22.3 meters, Dry weight: 23.8 tons
Armament: Beam Sword (x2), Thrust Beam Cannon (x2), Reactive Shield (x1), PX
System, Lightweight Accelerate Submachine Gun (optional) |

Last Outpost (G-Unit)
Affiliation:
OZ
Pilot(s):
Kratz Silvy |
Developed by Dr. Berg near the end of the siege
at MO-V, the Gundam Prometheus was designed as a superior version of the
Asklepios. Noteworthy changes include the addition of a metal sword and
shield, the latter mounting a pair of rapid shots, giving Prometheus better
weaponry in its regular mode. In Close Combat Mode, its only weapons were a
pair of extending python claws, but this flaw was mitigated by the fact that
unlike Asklepios, Prometheus suffered no great reduction in mobility because
of its transformation. (Like Asklepios, Prometheus' Close Combat Mode is a
tribute to classic Gundam; in this case, the MSM-03C Hy-Gogg from Gundam
0080: War in the Pocket.)

Last Outpost (G-Unit)
Affiliation:
OZ
Pilot(s):
Valder Farkill |
Developed by Romefeller for the purpose of
hunting down the five rebel Gundams, the Hydra Gundam found its way into the
hands of ace pilot Valder Farkill, who redesigned it to battle the Gundam
Epyon before heading to MO-V to take over OZ Prize. The Hydra was designed
as a high-speed attacker, using a powerful buster gun and beam sabers. Its
shoulders mount a set of beam cannons which can operate either on mounting
arms, or detach and act as wire-guided all-range attack units. It could also
transform into a high speed mode by retracting its legs into its skirt
armor, revealing additional thrusters. (NOTE: The Hydra's high speed mode is
a tribute to the MSN-02 Zeong, the "final boss" mobile suit from the
original Gundam series. Further carrying the reference is the fact that the
back of the Hydra's head greatly resembles the Zeong's, and may even mount a
monoeye camera, as depicted in SD Gundam G Generation F.)

Classification:
Multi-Mode Mobile Suit
Material:
Gundanium Alloy
Dimensions:
Overall height: 24.6 meters, Dry weight: 21.7 tons
Armament:

OZ Prize
Pilot(s):
Unknown |
A mobile suit introduced in the Last Outpost manga. The OZ-06MS
EWAC Leo
is a variant of the standard Leo Space
Type. It is used for reconnaissance and information-gathering (EWAC stands for Early Warning and Caution). The
most notable change to the basic Leo
design is the modification of the head unit into a high-power dish radome.
 |
Leo-N
OZ-06MS-SN3
Last Outpost (G-Unit)
Affiliation:
OZ
Pilot(s):
Broom Brooks |
The personal machine of OZ Prize's Broom Brooks,
the Leo-N features armor heavy enough to shrug off the Leo's standard 105mm
machinegun with no visible damage. Its range is somewhat limited, employing
only shoulder-mounted machinecannons and carrying standard beam sabers,
which put it at a disadvantage when facing first the G-Units and later
Valder Farkill's Hydra Gundam.

Classification: Custom Full Armor Mobile Suit
Material: Titanium alloy (assumed)
Armament: Machinecannon (x2), Beam Saber (x2) |
Leo-R
OZ-06MS-SR2
Last Outpost (G-Unit)
Affiliation:
OZ
Pilot(s):
Kratz Silvy |
Kratz Silvy's personal machine, the Leo-R
sacrifices armor and defense for incredible speed. Normally its only weapon
is a beam lance, used to make high-speed, all-or-nothing charge attacks, but
during its second engagement with the G-Units, Kratz used a Taurus' beam
cannon to help destroy the Geminass 02.

Classification: Custom High Mobility Mobile Suit
Material: Titanium alloy (assumed)
Armament: Beam Lance (x1), Hyper Launcher (x1, option) |

Last Outpost (G-Unit)
Affiliation:
OZ
Pilot(s):
Roche Nattono |
The custom unit of OZ Prize leader Roche Nattono,
the Leo-S is an all-around improvement on the basic Leo, rather than
focusing on one specific area as its brethren do. Notable customizations
include gold etchings, epaulette-style shoulder armor, and a long cape
attached to the back. Though the Leo-S's only weapons are a standard beam
rifle and beam saber, they are modified to resemble an old matchlock rifle
and a fencing saber, respectively, adding to the overall appearance of the
machine.

Classification: Custom General Purpose Mobile Suit
Material: Titanium alloy (assumed)
Armament: Beam Rifle (x1), Beam Saber (x1) |
Mercurius Shuivan
OZ-13MSX2B-S
Last Outpost (G-Unit)
Affiliation:
OZ
Pilot(s):
Luna Armonia |
A customized version of the experimental
Mercurius, piloted by Valder Farkill's right-hand woman Luna Armonia.
Externally, Mercurius Shuivan (derived from the French word suivant, meaning
"next") is highly similar to the original, except for its white coloration
and a completely new head. Mercurius Shuivan also carries twice the number
of planet defensors as its predecessor, as well as an A.S. planet defensor
like the Scorpio's and a pair of standard beam sabers. The Mercurius Shuivan
had the option of operating as a mobile doll if Luna were unable to pilot,
its commands being routed through its sister unit, Vayeate Shuivan.

Classification: Custom Close Combat Mobile Suit
Material: Gundanium alloy (assumed)
Armament: Beam Gun, Beam Saber (x2), A.S. Planet
Defensor (x1), Planet Defensor (x20) |
Vayeate Shuivan
OZ-13MSX1B-S
Last Outpost (G-Unit)
Affiliation:
OZ
Pilot(s):
Solis Armonia |
A customized version of the Vayeate developed by
the Gundam engineers, piloted by Valder Farkill's trusted lieutenant Soris
Armonia. Like its sister unit, the Vayeate Shuivan features mostly cosmetic
changes, including mostly black coloration and slight changes to its armor.
The biggest change is the addition of a second beam cannon, with its own
energy collector unit mounted on the back, allowing it to wield one cannon
in each hand and deal even greater damage.
Classification: Custom Assault Mobile Suit
Material: Gundanium alloy (assumed)
Armament: Beam Cannon (x2) |
Grand Shario
Last Outpost (G-Unit) |
Battleship introduced in the Last Outpost manga.
 |
MO-V
Last Outpost (G-Unit) |
Residing on the far side of the asteroid belt, MO-V is farther from
Earth than any other colony. It has a population of 100,000, mostly miners,
engineers and their families.
 |
Unit
System
Last Outpost (G-Unit) |
One of
the unique technologies behind the G-Unit Gundams produced at MO-V. Its
intent is to do away with the old system of mobile suit manufacture, in
which machines were designed for only one specific terrain or mission role.
All the mobile suits using the Unit System are completely modular, with a
system of locking bolts holding them together. Thus, every part of a G-Unit
except its cockpit can be quickly and easily changed, allowing one machine
to fulfill multiple mission roles all by itself. |
PX System
Last Outpost (G-Unit) |
The
centerpiece of the G-Unit Gundams, the PX System is a powerful but highly
unstable combat system, usable only by the best pilots. When activated, the
PX System temporarily pushes a mobile suit beyond its normal operational
limits, while stimulating an adrenaline surge in the pilot to allow him to
cope with both the increased speed and the physical exertion of this brief
"super mode". The PX System is typically programmed with an automatic
cut-off for safety; if used beyond this time limit, it can cause damage to
both the mobile suit and the pilot's brain. While using the PX System, the
mobile suit appears to glow, and can move so fast that the human eye can't
follow it. During the events of G-Unit/The Last Outpost, the Barnett
brothers use "PX Overdrive" in which the system is pushed even further than
normal, but with even greater risk of death from its operation. |
